Autism Assessments (Identifications) at BeMe Therapy
At BeMe Therapy, we offer comprehensive, neurodiversity-affirming autism assessments led by a collaborative team of professionals, including a psychologist, speech and language therapist (SLT), and occupational therapist (OT). Our approach is grounded in respect, empathy, and a deep understanding of the many ways children communicate, connect, and experience the world.
A Whole-Child, Collaborative Approach
What the Assessment Includes:
- Direct Observations
We spend time getting to know your child through naturalistic and play-based interactions. We observe how they communicate, engage, play, move, and regulate—always in a supportive, low-pressure environment. - Parent Conversations
You are the expert on your child. We take time to listen and understand your insights, questions, and concerns. Your voice is central to the process. - Review of Reports and History
We review previous reports, developmental history, and input from educators or other professionals to ensure a well-rounded and informed assessment. - Collaborative Team Input
Our SLT, OT, and psychologist each contribute their professional insights and come together to reflect, discuss findings, and consider your child’s needs across multiple domains.
After the Assessment
“BeMe Therapy is a really special place. It is a completely neuro-affirming space. A place where, as a Mam of an autistic child, I feel such a sense of calm and peace knowing my child is truly accepted and celebrated for who he is, no matter what his needs are on any given day we are there. Julie is a phenomenal Speech and Language Therapist and her passion for her work always shines through in her sessions with my son. BeMe Therapy is a space where connection is prioritised, competence is presumed and children’s sensory needs are so supported. It is the kind of setting you walk in to and realise this is how Speech and Language Therapy should be and can be if the expert knowledge is there along with a true passion + commitment to support and nurture each child as their individual unique needs require. So grateful to have found BeMe Therapy“

Therapy Sessions
Ongoing 1:1 therapy sessions are available with our Speech & Language or Occupational Support therapists, depending on your child’s needs.
During these sessions, our therapists support your child in working toward their goals and building more meaningful connections in their own way.
We make sure that as a parent or carer, you have everything you need to continue building on this confidence outside of our therapy space.
Paired and group therapy sessions are also available, as needed.

Our aim is to create a supportive and affirming environment for your child, encouraging their communication skills and celebrating their unique voice through evidence-based research and resources.
How does it work?
1.
Fill in our contact form or email us directly at admin@bemetherapy.ie
2.
3.
Attend your initial assessment sessions.
The first session will be with you, the parent or caregiver, and the second will be with your child.
During the first session, we will focus on gathering detailed background information, discussing your child’s strengths and challenges, and understanding your priorities for support. This helps us build a clear picture of your child’s developmental history and current needs.
During the second session, the therapist will focus on building a trusting relationship with your child and completing the assessment in a way that feels comfortable and supportive.
- For younger children, this will usually take place through play-based activities, allowing the therapist to observe communication, interaction, and skills in a natural, engaging way.
- For older children, a more structured approach may be used, incorporating standardised assessment tools where appropriate.
This two-step process ensures that we gather both family insights and direct observations of your child, creating a comprehensive and individualised understanding of their needs.
4.
Have a discussion with your therapist about their observations and recommendations for further therapy, support and resources if needed.
